Marianna is the winner of many international violin competitions: Sion Valais (Switzerland, 2011) Fisrt Prize, Prague Spring (2010) First Prize, H. Wieniawski (Poland, 2009) First Prize and A. Glazunow (2000) First Prize and the Second Prize at the II International Violin Competition Buenos Aires 2012.
Marianna Vasileva was born in 1986 in St. Petersburg and approved herself to be the one of the most talented and brightest violin players of the generation. Her exciting charisma was admitted by Mstislav Rostropovich who has listened to Marianna for the first time at his anniversary party in 1997. The same year, she has her debut in Germany where Marianna had a great success performing Bruch’s Concert No. 1 for violin with orchestra. A year later, Valery Gergiyev invited her to his largest festival in Mikkeli (Finland).
Being born in the family of St. Petersburg musicians, Marianna got her first violin play lessons in the age of five directed by her father. When she was 7, she played her first concert. Then, the famous violin players became her teachers: Vladimir Ovcharek (vocational school and St. Petersburg Conservatory), Dora Schwarzberg (High School of Music in Vienna), Zakhar Bron (High School of Music on Cologne) – Marianna studies at his class since 2007.
Being very young in age, Marianna won the audience not only by her wonderful virtuosity but as well by extraordinary artistic and creative maturity. In 1997 Marianna became a winner of the international competition “2000 Virtuosos” in St. Petersburg and international Shostakovich competition in Hannover (Germany), in 2000 – international Glazunov competition in Paris. In 2001, she not only became an awardee of international Spohr competition in Weimar but also won the main prize of this competition – a violin. The same year Vladimir Spivakov invites Marianna to take part in his exclusive festival in Colmar (France).
Marianna has support from such large international organizations as H. von Karajan Fund, Vladimir Spivakov Fund, Russian Performing Art Fund, and Russian Violin Art Fund. Marianna’s performances have a great success in the best concert halls in Russia, Europe, the USA, Canada, and China. She cooperates with such famous musicians as Vladimir Ashkenazi, Yury Bashmet, Alexander Rudin, Vladimir Ziva etc. Marianna’s repertoire includes almost all classic violin works as well as a great number of modern composers’ works. Besides, she perfectly proves herself an excellent chamber musician.
Marianna Vasileva has a number of CD, DVD, radio and television records. In 2008, Delos Company released “Two Violins” album recorded in collaboration with Dmitry Kogan.
In 2009 Marianna became the winner of Henryk Wieniawski violin player competition in Ljubljana (Poland). In 2010 she became the winner of “Prague Spring” competition, where Marianna also received almost all the special prizes.
